This a customized tour for 2 or more, starting at your boutique hotel in Granada and ending in an equally charming setting in the old city of Córdoba.
You will not need (or want) a car in Granada or Córdoba – we provide transportation for the country cooking class excursion, the drive through the olive groves to Córdoba, and the winery tour, and we lead walking and tapas tours in the city. Both Granada and Córdoba are small and walkable, although for those who prefer or need to ride, rest assured it is easy to get taxis and minibuses around town (though please note these are not included in your tour price).
While we are happy to arrange a private driver transfer from the airport or train station for you (for an additional fee), we have found that taxis from the airport are practical and reasonable, there whenever you arrive. The Granada airport is 30 minutes from the center of the old city (about 25 Euros) and the train station is in town, 10 minutes (about 8 Euros).
Córdoba is not well-served by airlines, but is wonderfully well-connected to big international airports – both Madrid and Málaga (and Barcelona, too, for that matter) – by rail.
Enrolled participants receive background information about Granada and Córdoba, including details about your hotel and your guide who will meet you there.
The Closest Airport
The Granada airport does not handle direct flights from the US – from most US cities you will be routed there via Madrid or Malaga. Good deals directly to Granada can be had on Vueling.com and Ryanair.com from Barcelona; SpanAir flies from more Spanish cities.
If you are on a US flight into Malaga, Granada is within easy driving distance, though a bit far for a taxi ride. Ask us about arranging a transfer for you (though this is not included in your tour price).
Likewise, at the end of the trip, you’ll find Cordoba’s airport does not handle direct flights from the US. However, it is easy to return to either Madrid or Malaga by train. Córdoba is on the new AVE high-speed line, so Madrid is only 1 hour 45 minutes away, and Malaga is just over 1 hour away. Again, if you’d prefer we can arrange a transfer for you (not included in your tour price).
By Train
For planning the start of your trip, again, please note that Granada is connected to other Spanish cities by rail – though not yet on the high speed AVE route. Schedules and tickets to Granada from various Spanish cities are available at RENFE, the Spanish railway. Córdoba, where your tour ends, is on the AVE route connecting Malaga (1 hour and 5 minutes away) and Madrid (1 hour and 45 minutes away), note that these lovely trains do need to be booked in advance.
Driving and Car Rentals
You will not need (or want) a car during your time in Granada or Córdoba. If you are interested in renting a car for touring the region before or after your Granada to Córdoba experience, let us know and we can arrange it for you. We can also arrange private transportation through the region. (But please note, these arrangements are not included in the tour price.)
